Man had sex with woman in front of underage girl

A GOODNA man has been found guilty of sleeping with a woman while an underage girl sat on the floor of the bedroom.

Allen Ronald Johns, 52, was found guilty on Friday at the Ipswich District Court to two counts of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

On an unknown day between November 18, 2010 and November 17, 2011, while the girl was aged 15, she and another woman entered Johns' bedroom.

The court heard she sat on the floor of the room while a pornographic DVD was put on a TV in the room and the other woman performed sexual acts on Johns.

The Crown prosecution tendered a series of text messages suggesting Johns and the girl had a sexual relationship after she turned 16.

The messages from Johns, to the woman he slept with in front of the girl, said he "wanted to have fun" with the girl and other suggestive messages.

She also admitted in court to sleeping with Johns.

They were entered as evidence of other sexual events that hadn't been charged against Johns.

Johns' defence attacked the credibility of the girl, who the bulk of the Crown prosecution's case relied upon, claiming she couldn't be trusted as a witness.

However, the jury found Johns had intentionally put the video on and had sex with the woman knowing the girl was in the room.

The jury returned a guilty verdict after retiring to consider the case for much of Friday afternoon.

Judge Deborah Richards adjourned the sentence until tomorrow in Brisbane.

Johns was remanded in custody.
