A FREAK accident on a luxury boat ended in tragedy today for a group of friends enjoying a cruise around Sydney.

A man in his 20s fell overboard and was hit in the head by a 100ft cruiser at Pyrmont.

His body was pulled from waters near the Glebe Island Bridge about 2pm.

Police say two people were treated for "severe shock" where the boat is now anchored at Blackwattle Bay and officers are trying to piece together what happened.
