Man charged over abduction and sexual assault of girls

SEX crime detectives investigating the abduction and assault of girls as young as eight in Sydney's west, have arrested and charged a man in relation to the crimes.

The 50-year-old allegedly preyed upon and sexually assaulted at least six girls in remote bushland over a period of four years.

Most recently, two girls, aged nine and 10, were abducted and assaulted at gunpoint at a South Turramurra reserve in December 2, 2011.

The man is also accused of abducting and assaulting another nine-year-old girl, two eight-year-old girls and a 17-year-old girl, in similar circumstances,

He was charged with 18 offences including sexual intercourse with a child under 10, aggravated sexual assault, indecent assault, kidnapping, armed with intent and the production of child abuse material and was refused bail.
