Man charged with breaking into police station

A MAN has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a police station at Murwillumbah.

About 5.30pm yesterday, a man attended Murwillumbah Police Station, which was unattended at the time.

The man allegedly smashed the front sliding door before entering the premises and searching through counter drawers.

He left a short time later without taking any property.

About 8.10am today (Wednesday 13 May 2015), following investigations, police attended a home on Joshua Street, Murwillumbah, and arrested a 36-year-old man.

He was taken to Murwillumbah police station where he was charged with break enter and commit malicious damage.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Murwillumbah Local Court on Wednesday 27 May 2015.
