Family feud allegedly drives violent son to behead father

UPDATE: A MENTALLY-ill man stands accused of beheading his father in a gruesome end to a family dinner in Sydney.

Sydney police have alleged Toufic Zahab, 69, was attacked with a brick and knife when he stepped in to protect his wife from being assaulted by their son early Thursday.

According to the Herald, the couple's 42-year-old son Khoder Zahab was barred from the Bankstown home but when he insisted to stay for dinner, his parents gave in.

Describing the scene as "quite disturbing", Detective Chief Inspector Glen Fitzgerald told reporters it had been a difficult morning for the family and the officers and paramedics called to the home.

He said the home would be in "lock-down" for some time and officers who attended would be offered counselling.
