Mr Vasella took to Facebook to thank his supporters whose involvement was pivotal in helping him win the award on Wednesday night.

"Thankyou to the Australian Songwriters Association for awarding my song 'The Mighty Dollar' 1st place in the 'Australia' category of their 2013 Songwriting awards last night," he posted.

"Thankyou to the incredible Peter Lehner for all the work arranging the choir, and being there to lead the 'Lehner Family Singers."

"Thankyou to those incredible people who travelled all the way from Lismore, Canberra, and all over Sydney, on their own initiative to lend their voice."

"Thankyou to Ollie Heathwood for inspiring the choir collaboration through 'CSG the musical' last year."

"Thankyou W Paul Agar for pedal steel, Peter Marin drums, St Andrews Lismore for allowing us to record in the church, Naomi Braid for the artwork, Benjamin Lynch for the photos."

"Thankyou everyone who's supported me, bought albums, had me play at their party/wedding/venue, endured my raving about CSG."

"Mostly to my beautiful wife and kids."
