Karate champions dominate

Success Martial Arts' Lismore karate school continued to dominate in a southern Queensland martial arts competition last Sunday, August 26.

Nine competitors continued their quest to qualify for the state titles at round four of the National All Styles competition at Carrarra sports stadium. They won ten placings, including five firsts, two seconds and three thirds, in divisions ranging across age groups from ten years to over forty years.

Brian Donaldson, last year's state champion, followed up his stint at last month's US Open Karate Championships with a first place in the men's advanced continuous fighting event.

Ten year-old Mitchell Bucher won two first place trophies, taking out his sparring division and his forms division.

Fourteen year-olds Courtney Noble and Brock Fryer continued their winning ways, Courtney taking out the black-belt female teenage sparring division and Brock taking a first in point sparring and third in continuous sparring.
