Lismore's expert on seedlings

Peter Pagura has been growing seedlings in the yard of his Goonellabah unit since 1979, selling them to customers and also donating them to Caroona, the Carmelite nuns and local schools.

Peter grows a huge range of vegies includes tomatoes, lettuce, corn, beetroot, cauliflower, beans, cabbage, broccoli and more, all for $1.50 a punnet. According to a customer who arrived that day Peter’s vegies are “the best ever”.

“It keeps me busy – I come outside and potter around. It’s better than watching bloomin’ TV all day, that can make your brain go cock-eyed,” he said. “I love growing them and vegies at the supermarket are very expensive. It’s much better for people to eat vegies from their garden and it’s cheaper.”

Anyone interested in purchasing seedling can drop into Peter’s place at Unit 2, 46-48 Rous Road, Goonellabah, or phone 6624 4471 or 0447 318 814. People are welcome to pop in or call anytime, including weekends.
