Power-lifters topple world records at SCU competition

WORLD records were among those to tumble at the Oceania Powerlifting Invitational at Southern Cross University on Saturday.

Brisbane competitor Terrence Titus set a world record with a 330kg squat in the over-55s division. He also claimed a world record for his combined total after the squat, bench and dead lift.

Far North Coast competitor Josh Brown set a regional record with a 240kg bench press, Alstonville power lifter Luke O'Neal completed a 310kg dead lift while Lismore's Shane Atta-Signh failed with his attempt at a record 300kg bench press.

About 20 competitors took part in the invitational event.

"You had to be an Association member and at a certain standard to compete," event organiser Ron Birch said.
