Lifesaver on a mission
IT'S not quite what you'd call an idyllic location for an international lifesaver but this is not about the glamour.
Coffs Harbour local and Royal Life Saving NSW regional manager Jason Phillips is heading overseas next week to help arrest a terrible statistic - 17,000 children a year lose their lives in the water in Bangladesh.
“They're losing hundreds every week over there,” said Jason. “I'm going over to develop the capacity for the locals to implement the Swim for Life program so they can help spread the word in the villages.”
