Lifeline fashions fit for field

DRESSING UP for Lismore Race Day needn't be an expensive business. Lismore's Lifeline op shops have a great stock of retro dresses for the younger market.

They've been collecting since May, according to merchandise controller and manager of the South Lismore op shop, Alicia Ferderer.

"In our Magellan St store, we have the younger style retro, with shorter skirts and sleeveless, waisted styles," Alicia told The Echo.

"They are a reflection of '80s and '90s clothing and fairly romantic. The dresses are recycled and imported from Japan. They could be dressed up with high heels, or worn with lace-up boots, which seems to be popular among the younger people just now."

The new styles are on the $33 racks at the Magellan Street, Lismore, Ballina and Byron Bay Lifeline shops.

Alicia also has accessories like belts, shoes and hats in her stores.

"And for the races, we have pretty fascinators for $9.95, and hair accessories for $2.95."

The Magellan Street and Casino Street, South Lismore, Lifeline stores are open from 9.30am to 4.30pm during the week and from 9am to 1pm on Saturday.

Lismore Race Day is on Thursday, September 27.
