WHAT do you do when your pet dog of 14 years loses his ability to move his hind legs?
Chris and Claudia Rumble were faced with that dilemma when their beloved maltese Basil suddenly collapsed to the floor in front of them late last year.
They took him to a vet and the news was all bad. Two ruptured vertebrae and little hope for the future.
Driven on by love of their little mate, the couple drew on some inspiration and cobbled together a wheelchair made out of old shopping trolleys.
"The first month after he hurt himself went by with Basil just laying in the basket and having a miserable life," Chris said.
"We decided we either had to put him down or make him mobile."
Chris drew a bit of inspiration from images he spotted coming out of the US and with some ingenuity, set Basil free.
Basil also has a "skateboard" for indoors.
