Leaders to discuss NDIS at meeting

THE national disability insurance scheme is likely to lead the agenda at a high level meeting of state and federal leaders in Canberra on Tuesday.

Meetings of the Council of Australian Government's will start in private today, with public discussion's on Wednesday likely to look at the NDIS, proposed skills reform and the Gonski Review.

While all state and territories say they are committed to both the NDIS and the Gonski Review, the Queensland Government's focus on finding savings in its budget is likely to hold back any firm action.

It also will be the second meeting for Premier Campbell Newman, and the second meeting that the Gillard Government will face a majority of conservative state governments.

While the agenda is decided by Prime Minister Julia Gillard, the states were also likely to be pushing for discussion of the GST review as well as reforms to streamline the regulatory burden on business.

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
