Last chance for Channon shuttle

Getting to the Channon market to drink chai, buy vegetables and peruse the local craft stalls has been made even easier with the Channon Market Shuttle Bus – but if it’s not well-supported for the next markets, the service will stop.

Every second Sunday of the month for the past six months, the shuttle bus has been picking up passengers from a number of locations in Lismore from 9am and making its way to the North Coast’s colourful Mecca of alternative lifestyle culture.

Mitch Lowe from the Lismore Tourist Information Centre said this useful and valuable service would run for the last time on Sunday, June 13, if not enough people used it.

“We’re in a use it or lose it situation,” Mitch said. “Public transport is such a huge issue for our region and when a small operator comes along to provide a service to the community we need to support that operator by utilising public transport.”

The bus leaves the Channon market at 1pm and the ride costs $6 one way or $10 return. Persons 15 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and children under five travel free with a paying adult.

Pick-up spots in Lismore are as follows: Lismore Heights Bowling Club, Summit Gym, Goonellabah Shopping Centre, Southern Cross University, Wyrallah Road, East Lismore, Wyrallah Road, South Lismore Public School, and North Lismore. For more details or to book a seat on the bus, call Quinn’s buses on 0427 282 138.
