Labor fights to retain Kevin Rudd's electorate

FEDERAL Labor has launched a proactive attack in a bid to retain Kevin Rudd's electorate for the party, with Opposition Leader Bill Shorten in Brisbane campaigning for the week.

Mr Shorten arrived in Brisbane on Monday, and will spend much of the week out with Labor candidate Terri Butler in Griffith.

The Labor leader has completed a series of radio and television interviews, as well as open press conferences since his arrival.

While Mr Shorten on Monday hit out at the absence of Prime Minister Tony Abbott from the electorate, it is understood Mr Abbott will join the LNP campaign on the ground in the next week.

As Labor seeks to secure Mr Rudd's stomping ground, it faces 10 other opponents, most notably two-time LNP candidate Dr Bill Glasson.
