Kreol daughter to groove at Byron

Reggae/afro singer and songwriter Grace Barbé (pictured) will perform with her band at the Great Northern Hotel in Byron this Saturday, October 3, from 9pm.

Grace, from the island nation of Seychelles (in the Indian Ocean), is promoting her debut CD Kreol Daughter.

Her music is the music of Seychelles - a colourful combination of Indian Ocean styles; reggae, afro and funk.

Grace has had a big year following the release of her CD last December. The band kicked off 2009 with performances at the mighty Woodford Folk Festival, and in May was voted Top World Music Act at the West Australian Music Industry Awards. Recently Grace sang the South African National Anthem at Subiaco Oval in Perth before the Australia vs South Africa rugby match.
