Koala carers wanted

If you love animals and you’ve ever thought about volunteering some time to help, then Friends of the Koala want to hear from you, now.

There are more koalas coming into care than ever before and they are looking for people to join their team of dedicated carers.

“Heightened public awareness and concern for koalas are among several possible factors which are resulting in more animals being referred to Friends of the Koala,” care co-ordinator Barb Dobner said.

She said treating and rehabilitating injured and diseased koalas is a lengthy and labour-intensive process that requires a team approach. Volunteers are expected to commit a minimum of two to three hours a week, for which you will get the satisfaction of participating in the rehabilitation of koalas in the wild.
