Kicking goals for Football Far North Coast

Football Far North Coast's “night of nights”, the 2009 senior presentation was held last Saturday night with the region's best male and female players recognised in front of nearly 300 people at the Lismore Workers Club.

The Northern Rivers Echo Male and Female Golden Boots were awarded to the leading goal scorers in the Premier Men's and Premier Women's competitions.

Extraordinarily, this prestigious award resulted in joint winners in both the Male and Female competitions, with Max Latimer from Italo Stars and Jordy Campbell from Byron Bay scoring 16 goals each. Jordy has won this award previously and both players will be pivotal in their respective team's chances of taking the Premier title this year.

The female Golden Boot was won by Italo Stars' Martene Wallace (formerly Edwards) and Bangalow's Hollie Jarrett, who each scored an impressive 23 goals. This was Martene's fifth Golden Boot, making her the most awarded player in either the male or female competitions.

Martene's feats continued when she was named Female Player of the Year, for the third time.

The Open Division Golden Boot was awarded to Alexandra Kennedy from Ballina in the female competition with 21 goals and Dean Treveton from Brunswick Valley with 24 goals. Other awards on the night included Luke Mackney being recognised for the second time in three years as Referee of the Year and Lismore Richmond Rovers being crowned as Club Champions for a record ninth time.

Pointscore winners in the Men's competition are 6th Division Tintenbar-East Ballina, 5th Division Bangalow, 4th Division Lismore Workers, 3rd Division Lismore Workers, 2nd Division Ballina, First Reserve South Lismore, First Division Pottsville Beach, Premier Reserve Ballina and for a third consecutive year, Lismore Richmond Rovers in Premier Division.
