YOUNG Queensland wicketkeeper/batsman Jimmy Peirson has replaced former Test all-rounder Andrew McDonald in the Adelaide Strikers' Big Bash League squad.
McDonald, 32, has been battling injury since he moved to Adelaide from Victoria this season. He spent the majority of last season sidelined due to a hamstring torn from the bone.
He played in two Ryobi Cup games for South Australia in Sydney in October, but was unable to bowl or field properly due to a loss of feeling in his leg.
Peirson (pictured), 21, made his Queensland debut in the Ryobi Cup, replacing injured gloveman Chris Hartley in games against WA, SA and NSW.
Peirson scored 143 runs at 47.66, including a best of 85 against South Australia, but did not feature in Queensland's victory over NSW in the final after Hartley recovered from a finger injury.
