Junior rugby league player critical after serious injury

A SAWTELL junior rugby league player remains in a critical condition at Coffs Harbour Health Campus after being injured in a match at Rex Hardaker Oval on Saturday.

A Mid North Coast Area Health media spokesperson confirmed a 15-year-old was conveyed to hospital after suffering a severe head injury.

However, few details are available as to the circumstances of the incident.

NRL Regional Game Development Officer (Northern NSW) Garry Stevenson declined to comment and referred The Coffs Coast Advocate to club officials.

Sawtell JRLFC president Kareena Duggan declined to give information of any nature regarding the incident and referred The Coffs Coast Advocate to Country Rugby League.

Group 2 chief administrator Jim Anderson said he had not been informed of the matter.

At this stage, no reply has been received from an inquiry to CRL Regional Manager Kevin Hill.
