Judo trio honoured

When Lismore MP Thomas George agreed to hand out certificates to three young judo champions he didn't realise he'd end up on the floor.

Mr George gave certificates to Daniel Parry, the Australian under 16 boys champion, Bianca Phillips, Australian under 13 girls champion, and Cameron Blewitt, Australian under 13 boys runner-up, at the Lismore PCYC recently.

“It's great to see the respect and discipline these kids have,” Mr George said. “They're all polite and they bow when they enter the room. It's a great reflection on all of them, not just the kids who won, their families and their coach Alan Foley.”

Mr George was so impressed he offered to be one of the sponsors for the Lismore PCYC Judo Club tournament on November 15.

The tournament is the largest judo tournament in country NSW with more than 100 competitors expected.
