Travolta fans hope for SeaWorld visit today

Updated 12.35pm: JOHN Travolta is about town with wife Kelly Preston and son Benjamin and the rumour is he's heading to Sea World on the Gold Coast.

A spokeswoman at the theme park said the Grease star was nowhere in sight.

"He's not coming here that I'm aware of," she said.

"Unless he's coming as an independent guest."

With the heavens opening up and a bucket load of rain pouring on the coast it might be easier to spot the celebrity.

Social media commentators believe the star will spend his day inside and hoped he would be spotted at Pacific Fair Shopping centre.

Gold Coast resident Liz Meffan posted she'd spotted the star.

"Hey people.... John Travolta graced us with his presence here on our beautiful mountain today," she wrote.

"Had I know he could have got my washing in before it got rained on.

"Anyway he is on holidays here with the family and was seen at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary yesterday.

"Hope he left a fat cheque for the hospital !!! So for the locals - keep your eyes peeled on the streets of the Gold Coast this week."

Updated,  April 9, 7.43pm: IF John Travolta was hoping for a low profile family holiday he picked the wrong place - the Gold Coast during school holidays.

The movements of the Hollywood star have been tracked widely on social media. The hubbub began yesterday when mydailynews.com.au broke the word that the Travolta family had just visited Currumbin Sanctuary.

Since then fans have reported seeing the star at a number of locations, including the Gold Coast hinterland and the Sheraton Hotel, and then shared their encounters with super-stardom on their facebook pages.

One couple have reported being stopped by the Travoltas and asked whether their two year old son could take a look at the couple's baby.

This afternoon, other social media fans were hopeful the family would be visiting Pacific Fair Shopping Centre today, while others have speculated the family is due to visit SeaWorld tomorrow.

Initial report,  April 8, 4pm: JOHN Travolta dropped into Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary this afternoon, scoring a cuddle with a koala.

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's Nancy Ruscitti said that Mr Travolta had visited the wildlife park this afternoon, but left with the speed of greased lightning.

"He was here today, but he's left now," she said.

Ms Ruscitti was disappointed that she didn't get a chance to meet the famous American, who has starred in hit movies such as Grease and Pulp Fiction.

"I didn't even get a chance to see him.

"It was so busy I didn't even get the chance to get out there."

Ms Ruscitti confirmed Mr Travolta had indeed snuggled up to a koala for a cute photo.

"He is an onscreen legend and we have grown up watching Grease and everything," she said.

Social media was abuzz, with visitors to the park excited to see the celebrity.

A spokeswomen from the Gold Coast Airport said she had heard reports Travolta was on the coast, but refused to comment on whether he had piloted a plane to Coolangatta.
