JENNY Christie was so affected by her visit to Cambodia she has spent the year helping to raise money for the Feed the Babies project - and she is not stopping yet.

Mrs Christie has helped put together a ladies' day and charity auction to add to the $10,000 already raised for New Hope Cambodia this year.

She said it cost $12,000 a year to keep feeding malnourished children.

"We are feeding up to 100 babies in the community at any one time," Mrs Christie said.

"The program is reaping really good results."

This includes twins who were nine months old and were so malnourished it was thought they wouldn't survive.

"Now 15 months, they are just starting to respond, speak and walk," she said.

"New Hope Cambodia are really ecstatic that we have been able to set up this project.

"There are many malnourished babies who have commenced on the program and are now gaining weight and receiving good nourishment.

"There is no welfare system in Cambodia so if the parents can't work, they basically starve."

Ladies are urged to bring a used item to donate for auction.
