It's a joke and you can win!
The Big Joke Comedy Festival in Bangalow is on from March 18-21. This world-class festival features some of Australia’s best stand-up comedians – and some local ones.
The Village Idiot Stand Up Competition is on again (in the festival bar at the A&I Hall) with a total prize pool of $800 and deluxe treats from Gaia Retreat & Spa up for grabs. This is a prime opportunity for emerging comedians to strut their stuff in front of an appreciative audience.
To enter visit www.thebigjoke.com.au or phone 6629 1457. Village Idiot heats are free to attend.
As well as Tom Gleeson, The Big Joke has tempted Peter Berner to perform at the festival. His style has been described as paint stripper for the mind… bitingly satirical and hysterically funny.
Also performing are Jeff Green, Jackie Loeb, Chris Radburn, Axis of Awesome, and local comedians Nick Penn, Ellen Briggs and Sandy Gandhi.
You can purchase and print out your own tickets online at www.thebigjoke.com.au.
The full program can also be found there.
Freebies: The Echo has tickets (and other prizes to give away) to the Big Joke Comp. To go in the draw to win phone 6622 2888 between 10.15 and 10.30am and tell us what makes you laugh till you cry the most: Peter Garrett as environment minister or Japan’s scientific research into whales.
First prize is a gold pass (entry for one person to everything) plus a framed pair of underpants signed by the acts. (Hey, it’s not my idea...)
Second prize is a flexi pass (free entry to three shows of a person’s choice) plus a pair of socks signed by the acts. (Oh dear...)
Third prize is a ticket to a show of the winner’s choice plus a lollipop signed by one of the volunteers. (That’s it. I’m outta here.)
