Hug a chippy and have a snag

This Friday, April 16, is National Carpenter’s Day, which is also being called Hug a Chippy Day!

Hurford Hardwood and JH Williams are getting together to celebrate the work that chippies do in the community and will be hosting a free BBQ breakfast from 6.30-8.30am. All chippies, tradies, apprentices and the general public are welcome to come along for a bacon and egg roll, fruit platter or a good old fashioned snag.

Kate Melzer from Hurford Hardwood said carpenters’ work often went unrecognised.

“These guys get up early every day to build our homes and the infrastructure that the rest of us depend on. It’s great to have a chance to acknowledge them and say thanks,” she said.

Internationally recognised Master Craftsman and all round local nice guy Geoff Hannah will be the guest ambassador for the day, and will chat about his latest masterpiece, The Hannah Cabinet, which was recently unveiled by NSW Governor Marie Bashir. State and national winners of Carpenter of the Year and Apprentice of the Year will also be announced. Information about National Carpenters Day can be found at www.nationalcarpentersday.com.au.
