Housemate charged in 21-year-old woman's death

A KITCHEN knife and vase were used as weapons in an incident which left a young woman dead in Sydney, police have alleged.

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly hit over the head and stabbed in the chest in the southern suburbs on Sunday.

She died in hospital and her 31-year-old housemate was charged with her murder.

The accused was refused bail yesterday.

Police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
