Housebound pensioner robbed

Joan is 85 and uses a wheelie walker to move around.

Two weeks ago while she was in her home someone came in, plucked her handbag off its usual place, took the money and left the bag hanging on the banister.

“How can they be so horrible?” Joan asked. “I hope you enjoyed spending my pension money.

“I have to have people to do things for me, help me shower, do the shopping, somebody to fix up sores.

“Fancy coming into my home and having it all worked out.”

Joan believes it was someone she knows because her German Shepherd didn't bark.

She wants to warn other pensioners to be careful.

“That could have been all the money I had for all they knew,” he said. “People don't care theses days.

“Everyone who comes in your house, don't think they're okay, be very careful.”

Joan said the police were investigating.

Joan didn't give her last name because she didn't want people to feel sorrry for her or offer her any money to replace what was stolen.
