Henry to send strong team for trial game against Broncos

MT ISA rugby league fans will be in for a treat with Cowboys coach Neil Henry saying he expected to name a strong squad to take on the Broncos in the February 9 trial at Alec Inch Oval.

"I'd imagine we'll send a pretty strong team just to gauge where some players are at with the depth in the club," Henry said.

The North Queensland outfit will certainly have plenty of options in the halves in 2013.

Former West Tigers half-back Robert Lui, back from a one-year ban for domestic violence, and Ray Thompson, will provide stiff competition to incumbent No.7 Michael Morgan.

"Morgo finished off the year really well so he's in the box seat (for the halfback spot). It's up to Robert and Ray to get in there and push for selection," Henry said.

Henry also said Thompson, Brent Tate, Anthony Mitchell and former Storm utility Rory Kostjasyn - all players coming off pre-season shoulder surgeries - were not far off contact work and gearing themselves towards the trials.

One player who won't feature in the Mt Isa trial is forward James Tamou who is a certain selection in the All-Stars game on the same day.
