Help a heart in need

CAROL Barton joined Precious Hearts after her grandson Zane (pictured) was diagnosed with congenital heart disease (CHD). His defect was undetected until he was 10 months old and despite surgery and assistance for his condition, he passed away on August 26, 2011, at only 16 months old.

Precious Hearts is a Queensland-based non-profit organisation that provides care packages and assists families with children undergoing heart surgery. In Australia, congenital heart disease affects one in 100 newborn babies and is the biggest killer of children under the age of five in this country.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation or donate items that can be used in care packages which cater for children from 0-16, phone Carol on 0402 149 574.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
