Hecklers get into Clive: Use your money for better things

MINING billionaire Clive Palmer has been heckled by Labor supporters at a polling booth in Coolum, who told him to "spend your money on better things" than trying to win a seat in Parliament.

After giving the media the slip by voting early on Friday, Mr Palmer is spending polling day criss-crossing Queensland's Sunshine Coast handing out how-to-vote cards for his Palmer United Party.

Chauffeured around with his heavily pregnant wife in a black BMW emblazoned with Palmer United Party decals, and escorted by police (as all the leaders of political parties are during election campaigns), Mr Palmer looked very relaxed.

"There hasn't been any pressure [during the election campaign]," he told Fairfax Media outside Mt Coolum Day Care Centre. I'm only trying to serve the people and do what's right."

Mr Palmer said he had spent a lot more on his campaign than the $2 million reported in the media. At one polling booth in Coolum Mr Palmer was heckled by Labor supporters telling him "you should spend your money on better things".
