Hearing voices again

After the success of their debut CD, the Hearing Voices Choir (pictured) are once again in the studio mixing down their second album with the invaluable help of SCU students. Their new CD will feature a selection of choral covers as well as a Hearing Voices original.

The Lismore choir hopes to raise enough money to launch their new CD during Mental Health Week in October, and are holding a fundraiser and awareness raising concert this Saturday, September 26, at the Uniting Church Red Dove Chapel in Lismore. Tickets cost $10/7 and doors open at 5.30pm, with performances beginning at 6pm.

Supported by special guests Isabella Accapella and MC Adrian, the early gig gives people with families an opportunity to come along and help the choir raise funds. The night also features a lucky door prize and raffles with CDs, artworks, books and gift vouchers to be won, as well as light refreshments to purchase.

The Hearing Voices choir is a group for people with a mental illness, their family and carers. Choir director Linda Cochrane said the choir is always looking for new members, so if you are experiencing mental illness or are a carer and would like to join the choir, phone Linda on 0423 345 842.
