He shot at police to protect girlfriend, court told

One-time solicitor Briana Ioannides was granted bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court late last month on a raft of charges, including producing, supplying and possessing dangerous drugs.

In documents lodged with the court, detectives claim they began their latest investigation into the 28-year-old, after her de facto partner Daniel White-Mayne was involved in a shooting at Surfers Paradise on January 22.

"During the incident police were confronted by ... White-Mayne who was armed with a firearm," the affidavit states.

"Police investigations reveal White-Mayne confronted police as he did not want them to locate Ioannides in possession of dangerous drugs in a unit within the building."
