RICHMOND Local Area Command police are appealing for information following the attempted sexual assault of a woman at Ballina in the early hours of Friday, April 16.

About 6.15am a man grabbed the 40-year-old woman within the Crowley Retirement Village, St Marks Close, Ballina.

The offender was armed with a weapon and threatened the victim.

The 40 year old woman fought off the attacker, who fled in an unknown direction.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen this man in and around the Ballina area.
