Harvest Festival canned after Big Day Out buy in

THE 2013 Harvest Festival has been cancelled, with promoter AJ Maddah confirming he has bought into the Big Day Out.

Harvest headliners The Eels, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Conor Oberst's Desaparecidos have confirmed they still plan to tour, with Faster Louder reporting that Maddah is trying to secure Brazilian act CSS for the 2014 Big Day Out.

In an official statement on Harvest Festival website, organisers said more headline shows will be announced over the next 10 days.

"Those who purchased Harvest Festival 2013 tickets will be given priority access to these headline shows. Please stay tuned for details," the statement said.

Maddah, who is also the boss of the Soundwave Festival, will now co-promote the Big Day Out with Ken West and American tour promoters C3 Presents.

Maddah has been busy answering festival-goer questions on Twitter from his handle @iamnotshouting, from which he officially announced the Harvest cancellation.
