MCLAREN driver Lewis Hamilton insists pressure on him to re-sign with the under-performing McLaren team has not increased despite Mark Webber extending his contract with Red Bull.

Hamilton is looking for a long-term deal and said slipping to fourth in this year's drivers championship ahead of Sunday's German Grand Prix at Hockenheim would not be a factor.

"You have to base your decisions on a much, much longer period of time. Only half a year cannot decide six years of partnership," the 2008 Formula One world champion said.

"I'm not that young any more so I want to make sure that whatever I do I make the right decision. I just need to make sure that I'm winning. That's what I exist for, that's what I train and work for every day."
