Numbers down but organisers happy with Lismore hack show

THE inaugural Winter Hack Show at the Lismore Showgrounds has been rated a success although organisers admitted competitor numbers were down on expectations.

The one-day competition included events for young and senior competitors as well as for a range of pony sizes and had been billed as a chance for local riders to gain experience and prepare for bigger events.

Lismore Show Society organising committee member Peter Engle said the event had attracted about 20 riders who were competing for "very good prizes against some good quality horses".

"We have made a start. We wanted to get things happening on the grounds for the local riders," he said.

Mr Engle because it was a local event it had the luxury of being flexible.

"We have added classes to suit the people we have here," he said.
