Red Beard released hellish new single

GYMPIE dance-rock band Red Beard yesterday dropped its new single and slick video, setting the scene ahead of a forthcoming album release.

Band members Tomi Rooney (vocals), Joel Forman (guitar), Reece Buckley (drums) and Michael McKiernan (vocals, keys and synth) lapped up the early praise on social media platforms Facebook and YouTube.

The new single, Hell's Gates, is an offering of pure rock set nicely against Rooney's raw and grungy vocals.

A teaser video released earlier this week had Red Beard fans brimming with anticipation and the lively quartet's latest effort is showing signs of pushing the boundaries of the group's success

The video was filmed in a Sunshine Coast aeroplane hangar and like the group's earlier efforts, shows the boys are happy playing it up in front of the camera as much as they are on stage before their legion of fans.

The camera catches the group up close and from a distance, framed by the expanses of the aeroplane hangar.

Interspersed throughout the video are clips of a man running desperately from an unknown threat following him.

It is not until the video concludes and the final notes of the song ring out that viewers are given the answers they crave.

The video's high energy performance and storyline of intrigue show the Gympie band continues to grow in confidence.

The band gave a special mention to keyboardist Reece Buckley whose dedicated performance was credited as making the instrument "look way more badass then it should".

Keen to tour with the new material, released by Eleventh Records, Red Beard is performing Saturday, August 1 as the support act for fellow Queensland band, Young Lions, at Brisbane's The Brightside in Fortitude Valley.

Young Lions yesterday drummed up support on Facebook for their fellow artists.

"Red Beard's new single is hella huge," the group said online.

"Keen to have these dudes playing in Brisbane with us."

Hell's Gates is available for purchase right now from Apple iTunes.
