HERE'S a heads-up for a red alert of a musical kind - folk legend Arlo Guthrie, son of America's most beloved singer/writer/philosopher Woody Guthrie, is coming to town.

Arlo grew up surrounded by musicians like Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, Fred Hellerman and Lee Hays (The Weavers), Leadbelly, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.

He absorbed their genius and has become a master storyteller and folk singer in his own right.

He is supported on his forthcoming tour by husband-and-wife duo, daughter Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion.

They play the Star Court Theatre on Sunday, March 3. Tickets are $66 from starcourttheatre.com.au or by phoning 6622 5005.
