Women found guilty of car-jacking abduction

A JURY has found two women guilty over the car-jacking and abduction of a Queensland woman who managed to escape at Coffs Harbour.

Sophia Cavanagh and Nellie Bennet were given a lift to a Brisbane shopping centre when they threatened the 44-year-old driver with a knife, robbed her, tied her up and drove her south.

The woman fled during a petrol stop at Toormina and called police.

Cavanagh and Bennet were on trial for more than a week in the Coffs Harbour District Court.

The jury returned a guilty verdict was returned last night and the pair will remain behind bars until their sentencing hearing on March 27.
