Grave fears for mother and child

GRAVE fears are held for a woman and young child missing since their boat flipped on a NSW river Tuesday morning.

Seven family members were on board the boat when it capsized on the Gwydir River near the Copeton Dam about 10am.

Five managed to swim to shore but the woman, 55 and child, 4, were unaccounted for.

Rough conditions made it difficult for search and rescue crew to access some sections of the river.
