VIRGINIA Wilkie loves her garden, and it shows. This stunning garden is only eclipsed by the extraordinary views from the Coopers Shoot, Byron Bay house and garden. The views are virtually to New Zealand.
What most appealed to Virginia about this house was not just the views, but the myriad of outdoor entertaining options.
Like many people who choose to live in our beautiful part of the world, outdoor living is what Virginia loves most about this house.
"There are three outdoor dining areas, and that's not counting the garden, the gazebo or the front deck of the house," says Virginia.
"Depending what time of day it is, and what time of year it is, and what you want to do, there's always somewhere idyllic to sit and have a cup of tea, hold a tennis party, an informal breakfast, or a formal dinner.
"Not that I do that much entertaining, but it's nice to know that you can!!" laughs Virginia.
While still coming to terms with the extraordinary view, Virginia pulls out some real family treasures.
"This was my great-grandmother's tablecloth, she handmade it," explains Virginia. There's a cupboard full of vintage linen, all from her mother's side of the family, and all lovingly kept. There's also cut crystal and dinner sets that are equally stunning.
"It's lovely having such beautiful pieces that actually mean something to you," she declared.
"My mother used to keep it in the cupboard for special occasion, like many women did back then, but I like to use them, not that often, but they're not under lock and key!" says Virginia.
The main house is simply and tastefully decorated, but each room beckons you out into the garden, which is where you find Virginia most days. Taking in the view and tending to her beautiful garden.
