THREE Clarence Valley restaurants have been recognised in the Sydney Morning Herald's Good Food Guide 2013, with one receiving a rating.
Frangipan in Angourie was given a GFG rating of 13.5 out of 20.
Lindsay McDonald, along with his father Stewart, has owned Frangipan for seven years.
He said he was thrilled to have been included in the Guide for the fifth year now.
"It's sensational," he said. "It's good news; it promotes the area and our business."
Beachwood Cafe in Yamba and No1 Duke Street in Grafton also received mentions in the Guide.
Good Food Guide's regional editor Barbara Sweeney said she was always keeping her "ear to the ground" for great restaurants and cafes in our region.
"Good food can be a really good meat pie; it can be a really fantastic pizza shop; it can be a really top chef doing international-standard food," she said.
"So the cafes in (the Clarence Valley) are in the book because they all offer good food.
"A nice cup of coffee; a thoughtful waiter or waitress - that can really make a difference to your experience of being in country New South Wales.
"So we're looking for that too; we're looking for the people that might be driving from Melbourne to Brisbane; where they stop when they're up in your neck of the woods."
Ms Sweeney spoke highly of the Lower Clarence.
"Going down into Yamba and Angourie - we're talking God's own country - is very special anyway," she said.
"And the thing about Frangipan is that it's incredibly affordable - it's a little food highlight.
"The listing for No1 Duke Street and the Beachwood Cafe are pointers; they're saying 'hey, when you're in Grafton (or Yamba) here's the place to go and get your coffee or your lunch'."
