Golden Era musos return

IN AUGUST 2015 John Maloney set up the Facebook group The Good Old Days In and Around Lismore and it has gone gangbusters.

“Within a month we had 4633 members and over 2000 historical images loaded,” he said.

“The group has continued to thrive and grow, with a dedicated group of people enthusiastic about the history of the Northern Rivers.”

Mr Maloney said from May 12 the group had 7178 members and 5159 photographs uploaded.

The group is now planning an event which will be a reunion of sorts for the “great entertainers from the golden era at the Workers Lismore Home of Entertainment”.

The event will feature The Legendary Pacific Jazzmen, The Mackney Brothers and much more on Sunday, June 12, at the Lismore Workers Club.

“To make the day totally affordable for everyone to come along, this once-only special event is a price of only $7.50,” Mr Maloney said.

“If we can make any profit we will donate it to the Rescue Helicopter or some local worthy charity.”

Mr Maloney said that in the morning from 10am- 12pm there would be local history talks and some photo slide shows and community singing.

“After an hour’s break for lunch, the Grand Reunion Concert will run from 1pm till 6pm,” he said.
