ARSENAL goalie Wojciech Szczesny has apologised after saying on Twitter that teammate Aaron Ramsey looked "like a rapist".

Szczesny made the offensive comment after 21-year-old Ramsey posted a photo of himself on a golf course.

Szczesny, also 21, responded by mocking the Welsh skipper: "I don't wanna be rude mate but you look like a rapist on that picture," he wrote.

The statement was later deleted by Szczesny, the BBC reports.

Ramsey responded: "Jealousy is not a good thing mate." That was followed by a further Tweet saying "I try my best mate were not all blessed with a good fashion sense like you."

Szczesny later issued an apology admitting he had gone too far.

"I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my previous tweets," he posted today. There are some thing we should not joke about and I have crossed the line.

It's not the Polish international's first Twitter gaffe.

He allegedly gave a Twitter follower his phone number via a private message before the woman, offended that Szczesny was going behind his girlfriend's back, posted the number on the social media site for all to see.
