GET OUT that leather jacket, because Grease is returning to the Australian stage.
The cast of John Frost's new multi-million dollar production of the hit musical was announced today.
Playing the lead roles of Danny and Sandy, made famous by John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the 1978 movie, are Legally Blonde's Rob Mills and rising star Gretel Scarlett.
Grease will premiere at QPAC's Lyric Theatre in Brisbane on August 27 before continuing to Sydney in October and Melbourne in January, 2014.
"Grease is one of my favourite musicals, and with this top draw cast of musical theatre stars I have no doubt it will again be everyone's favourite party musical," John Frost said.
"I'm thrilled that Rob Mills will be our Danny, straight from his success in Legally Blonde, and that we have found a new leading lady in Gretel Scarlett. Both Rob and Gretel gave sensational auditions, and our UK creative team knew instantly that they were the ideal Danny and Sandy."
It's the second version of Grease for Mills, who played Johnny Casino in 2005's Grease - The Arena Spectacular.
Grease marks the sixth John Frost production for Anthony Callea, who will play rock-star student Casino.
Bert Newton adds more star power to the cast, returning to his radio roots to play the role of slick veteran disc jockey Vince Fontaine.
Dancing With The Star's Todd McKenney, who starred in Annie last year, will once again don his dancing shoes to play Teen Angel.
Dr Zhivago star Lucy Maunder plays Rizzo, leader of the Pink Ladies, while Jersey Boys and I Will Survive star Stephen Mahy will play Kenickie.
Tickets for the Brisbane season start from $64.90. For more information visit the QPAC website.
