Genius Qld schoolboy develops groundbreaking maths theorem

A QUEENSLAND schoolboy has made a groundbreaking mathematical discovery, developing a theorem that calculates answers faster than a computer. 

The Daily Mail reports, Brisbane teenager, Ivan Zelich developed the theorem that could be the key to solving some of the greatest mysteries about the universe.

The theorem could be crucial to advancing our knowledge of intergalactic travel and the universe.

The 17-year-old, who is a year 12 student Brisbane's Anglican Church Grammar School, is believed to have an IQ of 180.

He first began speaking at two months of age and learned about negative numbers at just three years old.

The child genius was offered a place at university at 14 but decided to stay at school.

In 2014 he received a golden envelope with certification from the Prime Minister congratulating him for his mathematical achievements.

This year he was awarded Queensland Government Inaugural Peter Doherty Award for Excellence in Mathematics. 

Mr Zelich is considering international universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and the California University of Technology and a number of Australian universities to further his studies next year.

He told the Daily Mail his ultimate goal is to one day find the theory of everything.
