Gayle responds to Brad Haddin's sledge with scathing tweet
THE only fireworks were not confined to the Harbour Bridge in Sydney yesterday after West Indian superstar and Sydney Thunder batsman Chris Gayle launched a verbal rocket aimed at Sydney Sixers captain Brad Haddin on Twitter.
Haddin had lit the fuse after he had been dismissed by Gayle during the Sixers' four-wicket win over the Thunder at ANZ Stadium on Sunday.
The former Australian gloveman shook his head as he walked off, turned to Gayle, who is on a $250,000 deal, to hand him his bat, implying he had done nothing with one this season.
And Haddin wasn't finished with Gayle, who has scored just 70 runs in five matches at an average of 14 for the bottom-of-the-ladder and winless Thunder.
"He's been all talk so far this tournament and they haven't won a game," Haddin told Fox Sports in a sideline interview.
"It was disappointing to get out then, I was feeling pretty good, but at least the Thunder fans have seen Chris Gayle do something for his money."
Gayle stayed silent after the game, but didn't hold back yesterday morning, tweeting he could bat better than Haddin right-handed instead of his normal left.
"Haddin dig at him self to get back a test game! ScarFaceLine... "The World is Mine" I'm the world champion/ World Boss!" Also tell him stop watch my money and watch him self!! Not my fault he ain't good as I am even if I bat right hand!!!"
