Nathan Fyfe sets the early pace in Brownlow race

FREEMANTLE star Nathan Fyfe has been installed as the outright favourite for the Brownlow Medal after his second-straight best-on-ground display in the 44-point win over Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Sunday.

Fyfe (pictured), 23, was outstanding against the Cats, collecting 36 touches (25 contested), six clearances, seven inside-50m entries and three goals.

This followed on from his showing in the win over Port Adelaide in round one, which earned Fyfe 10 AFL Coaches' Association votes from Dockers coach Ross Lyon and Port counterpart Ken Hinkley.

CrownBet has Fyfe listed as the outright Brownlow favourite at $4.50 ahead of Patrick Dangerfield ($8) and Gary Ablett ($8.50).

Fyfe finished runner-up in last year's count, behind eventual winner Matt Priddis and polled 25 votes.

He was ineligible to win the medal, however, after being controversially suspended for a high bump on Gold Coast's Michael Rischitelli.
