Fundraiser for Afghani women

The SAWA (an Afghani women support group) film View from a Grain of Sand will screen at the funky Mullum Civic Hall this Saturday, December 5, at 3pm, as part of a fundraiser for Afghani women.

View from a Grain of Sand is a 90-minute documentary about the last 50 years of Afghanistan history and the fate (often terrible) of its women.

The film will be followed by performances from local artists River Free from Positive Timing, the Matty Devitt Band, Tarshito and the Fleeting Forest, and belly dancer Corrina.

There’ll be a presentation by guest speaker from SAWA, Dawn Atkinson. And then an auction, hosted by Mandy Nolan, of prizes donated by local businesses.

There’ll also be plenty of food, chai, cakes and drinks available.

A big evening for a good cause.
