Friend describes murder accused torching Noelene in car

HE was worried about both of them and had even offered to be the middle man during the anticipated messy separation but when friend Benjamin Bradbury arrived it was too late.

He told Brisbane Supreme Court he arrived at the Buderim home of Wayn Edward Raymond McClutchie and Noelene Beutel, both 35 at the time, about 4.30pm on June 29, 2011.

Mr McClutchie asked Mr Bradbury to follow him out to bushland at Tanawha where he dumped Ms Beutel's car with her body in the boot.

Mr Bradbury said his friend returned with his child and a jerry can but no car and told him to drive away.

McClutchie allegedly told his friend "I f***ing killed her, bro, and torched the car".

Mr Bradbury said he had been talking to or texting with both Ms Beutel and Mr McClutchie in the two days prior.

He said Ms Beutel had left her partner and was in a domestic violence refuge, that he offered to go with her to pick up her belongings in case things boiled over.

Mr McClutchie, now 38, has admitted he killed Ms Beutel during a violent confrontation and then pleaded guilty to trying to get rid of her body in a fire at Tanawha.

But he has pleaded not guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court to murdering the mother of his child because he says he did not intend to kill her.

The court has heard Ms Beutel, originally from Toowoomba, had told two people in the week before she died that Mr McClutchie had threatened to kill her and their daughter.

The trial continues.
